 | Description: Wonderful early 20th century hand carved Indian elephant ivory set of chess pieces, incomplete, but delightful nonetheless. The set includes 12 rooks, as horsemen, each carrying a rifle, ten middle size pieces (four mounted on camels, four on elephants, two on horseback, each carrying a lance), as well as two queens (each a tall elephant carrying passengers), and two kings (each an elephant carrying a warrior with rifle and lance). The pieces of the set are ornately carved, on marquis shaped bases, the sets differentiated with a black band at the base.
Condition: Good, a few minor chips, and the set is not complete, but wonderful nonetheless.
