 | Description: Beautiful late 18th century mahogany George III period chest of drawers in a two-over-three drawer design with ivory shield shaped escutcheons, lovely brasses and two hidden drawers in the top trim. The piece has a charming marquetry inlaid center medallion, of a soldier and resting lion that is framed with a thin rope-style inlaid line, the side inlays are single shells also surrounded by thin rope-style inlaid lines. A reeded detail to either side of the drawers, and bracket feet finish the piece nicely. Condition: Good for age - the top has a split to wood about half way across, both sides have splits to the wood from top to bottom which have repairs. The right top corner has pieces of veneer missing. The trim at the top in the front shows separation to fitted pieces but the trim are actually hidden drawers.
